Program Overview
The GAMS Cadetship Program aims to develop local people into key health care areas such as:
· General Practitioners
· Nurses
· Allied Health (Speech Pathology, Psychologist and Dietitian)
· Dentistry
It provides a unique opportunity to work in a dedicated team to assist in improving Aboriginal Health in Griffith and surrounding areas.
Successful Cadets
· Will be offered the opportunity to work in their semester breaks at Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service thus providing an income source whilst studying
· Will be supported by other professional medical staff at GAMS
· Receive cultural mentoring by key Aboriginal staff within GAMS
· Are guaranteed employment upon the successful completion of their studies
· Receive opportunities for training and further development
· Have their University Course fees paid for (terms and conditions apply)
Eligibility
· Anyone considering or undertaking relevant health studies in the fields mentioned above in the program overview (not yet commenced study or already part way through studies)
· Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders are strongly encouraged to apply
· Be an Australian Resident
